Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy American Thanksgiving Eve, if we’re being precise.

It seems likely (at least, we sure hope so) that any of us in the family can speak for the whole family in saying that we are a close-knit bunch and that we are deeply, deeply grateful and lucky to have that.

We’ve had some rough times as a family. From sibling rivalry to homeschooling challenges to Vienna’s very angsty adolescence, it hasn’t all been fun and games in the Harvey household. And yet, somehow, we emerged as a family of adults who all genuinely like each other and enjoy spending time together. And we can do it in a wide range of circumstances, from tromping around in the wilderness to going to fancy restaurants, and so much in between.

We are very fortunate in many ways, but this is one of the biggest.

Leaving a clean wake has been a core part of our collective philosophy since our years living on a sailboat. We certainly don’t get it right all the time, but even when things are difficult, the underlying principle and commitment holds.

The Harveys are pretty far-flung these days, with Vienna in England getting a master’s degree in Philosophy of AI and Rhiannon gallivanting about as a professional mariner and earning her captain’s licence. We may not be together for Thanksgiving this year, but we remain close in spirit.

Wherever you are and whoever you’re with, whether you celebrate American Thanksgiving or not, we hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving day tomorrow (or just a lovely regular day)!

What’s something you’re thankful for this year?
